Check out the 20 most-played acts on triple j this week

Another week has passed, and triple j have spent it doing what they do best – delivering endless hit tunes by a wide variety of brilliant artists from both here and abroad. Of course, with so many songs being played in a week, it can get pretty tough to know the artists that have been the most popular.

That’s where we come in. We’ve compiled a list of the most-played acts for the week so you can put a name to those tunes you’ve been hearing all week. Who knows, you might just discover a new favourite thanks to this list.

After a stunning 2017, BROCKHAMPTON have revealed that they’ve got plans for more music in the future, much to everyone’s delight. With plenty of US tour dates on the horizon, we’re hoping these guys won’t forget their Aussie pals when it comes time to announce international tour dates.

19. Drake

A favourite of triple j, Drake’s back on our radar thanks to not only his brilliant 2017 hit ‘Passionfruit’, but also to the release of his newest singles ‘God’s Plan’ and ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ from his Scary Hours EP. Is album number five on the way? We hope so!

18. Tame Impala

It’s been over two years since Tame Impala last released a record, but thanks in part to the recent Collector’s Edition reissue of Currents, they’re back on top of the popularity pile. Let’s face it though, they were never too far away.

Following the release of his debut album back in 2012, Garret Borns has been winning fans all over the world. Now, with the release of his third album (and second under the Børns moniker), Blue Madonna, Aussie fans have been all over this US muso. With his album having recently scored triple j’s feature album spot, you’ll be hearing plenty more from Børns in the future.

16. Camp Cope

As Camp Cope get ready to release their highly-anticipated second album, the group have been seeing some huge airplay. Following the success of first single ‘The Opener’, the band’s second single, ‘How To Socialise & Make Friends’ has been going gangbusters lately.

15. Towkio

Towkio has been on the scene for about five years now, and with his debut album dropping three years back, it looks like we’re set to see a new one dropping soon. With ‘Symphony’ taking over the airwaves lately, it looks like we might just be getting album number two-kio from Towkio soon enough.

14. Mac DeMarco

Canada’s loveable goof, Mac DeMarco has been back in the country lately for the Laneway Festival in support of his most recent album, This Old Dog. With DeMarco also stopping for a couple of headline shows, it’s no wonder that listeners have been loving this chilled out music once more.

13. The Wombats

Honorary Aussies The Wombats are gearing up to release their fourth album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, next month. Having already released the album’s first single, ‘Lemon To A Knife Fight’, the group’s latest single ‘Cheetah Tongue’ has already begun doing the rounds, gaining them plenty more fans in the process.

12. Alice Ivy

Alice Ivy has been seeing a massive rise in popularity since the release of her tracks ‘Touch’ and ‘Almost Here’. Now, with her Bertie Blackman-featuring track ‘Chasing Stars’ becoming the fourth most-played track on the station, the Melbourne producer is just getting started on her journey to world domination.

11. Hockey Dad

Hockey Dad are one of the most in-demand Aussie bands right now. Having had a stellar 2017, and now gearing up to release their second album, Blend Inn, we can’t wait to see more of these boys as they continue to dominate the Aussie rock scene.

10. Kendrick Lamar

Kung-Fu Kenny already had a pretty good standing as it was, with constant airplay over the last couple of weeks. Now, with his huge hit ‘HUMBLE.’ scoring the top spot on this year’s Hottest 100 (along with a handful of other hits), you can expect to hear plenty more of Kendrick in the coming months.

9. City Calm Down

City Calm Down took the Aussie rock scene by storm when they released their debut album a few years back. Now, with the promise of their new record, Echoes In Blue, dropping April, and their new single, ‘In This Modern Land’, doing the rounds on triple j lately, the future is bright for these Melbourne musos.

8. Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

Following the success of last year’s French Press EP, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have seen plenty of local and international love. Now, with their debut album, Horizons, on the… horizon, the group have managed to score loads of airplay too.

7. Migos

Migos recently released their third studio album, Culture II, and understandably, fans are going wild for all the great tunes this new record holds. With ‘Stir Fry’ currently the most-played track on triple j this week, you can be certain you’ll be hearing plenty more of Migos in the coming months.

6. Gang Of Youths

Following an immensely huge 2017, Gang Of Youths are still continuing to dominate, with plenty of brilliant tunes from their second LP scoring well-deserved spots in the recent Hottest 100 countdown. You can expect to hear even more of these modern legends in the future.

5. Wolf Alice

A few months back, you couldn’t look at this list without seeing Wolf Alice near the top. But after a while away, the group released their second record, Visions Of A Life. Featuring the triple j favourites ‘Don’t Delete the Kisses’ and ‘Beautifully Unconventional’, Wolf Alice are undoubtedly one of the most popular acts on triple j lately (though their absence in the Hottest 100 raises a few questions).

4. alt-J

Having won over Aussie audiences with their brilliant record Relaxer last year, alt-J have continued to impress us with singles like ‘In Cold Blood’ still receiving well-deserved airplay. While we’ve not got any news on when another album will be on the way, we can definitely say we’re excited for what the future brings.

3. Odesza

Like Mac DeMarco, Odesza are currently in the country for this year’s Laneway Festival, showcasing the tracks from their newest record, the stunning A Moment Apart. While none of the group’s tunes have made the list of most-played songs for the week, this makes their #3 placing on this list all the more impressive.

2. Lorde

Do we really have to explain why Lorde has been seeing so much love? With plenty of awesome songs all over the radio thanks to her second record Melodrama, Lorde continues to dominate, even now, months after the album was first unleashed.

1. DZ Deathrays

DZ Deathrays finally released their new album last week, and it’s been, well, Bloody Lovely. With singles like ‘Shred For Summer’ and ‘Total Meltdown’ dominating the airwaves, this new record has been a very welcome return for these brilliant musos.
