This week’s triple j additions: Ninajirachi, Green Buzzard, and a potential pop takeover

Posted On Mar 10, 2017

Always strong and always varied, triple j’s playlist for next week is particularly hard to resist.

The standouts include ‘Bellyache’ from LA’s Billie Eilish who is set to dominate pop music this year at a ridiculously young age. Her breakout track ‘Ocean Eyes’ put her firmly on the map almost a year ago when she was only 14, and this new single is just as stunning.

Having supported Lorde in her embryonic stage, triple j continue to nurture the New Zealand artist with the addition of ‘Green Light’. Can we expect Lorde’s latest single ‘Liability’ to be added next week? All signs point to yes ahead of her long-awaited Melodrama album, which arrives June 16.

Other tracks from this side of the pond include Green Buzzard’s swirling psych-pop entry ‘Dream In/Out’, Saskwatch’s blissed-out return ‘December Nights’, West Thebarton Brothel Party’s slacker rock number ‘Moving Out’ and ‘Pure Luck’ the delicate offering from Central Coast's Ninajirachi.

Finally a prediction; Kuren’s ‘Mon Amour’, though just a spot addition next week, will be creeping onto playlists station-wide in the coming week. Featuring Brisbane’s Austen, the track is your latest heartbreak anthem.
